This post is really for my own use but if you find it useful then great! I use this code to force WWW in my URL’s. It works for me in Joomla and standard XHTML sites. If using it for Joomla you will see RewriteEngine On already in the .htaccess file, just copy the last two lines and put in under RewriteEngine On then save. For everyone else you have to include RewriteEngine On or it doesn’t work.

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^yourdomain.com [nc]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.yourdomain.com/$1 [R=301,nc]

Anyone can submit links to articles by creating a free account and the will be displayed on the upcoming tab until being published to the front page by an administrator or by getting enough “ticks” (votes) from people who visit the site.

Ticking a article doesn’t require registration.

If you would like to add a button on your website or blog you can easily save the below image and this is the code that it uses to submit:

On January 20th, millions of eyes were on Washington for the swearing in of our 44th president Barack Obama. Not only watching TV but streaming online from CNN, Fox News, Hulu, and others.

I was more focused on CNN because they were utilizing Facebook Connect allowing you to watch and comment on Facebook and read others comments. It took about 10 minutes for me to get connect because of the high use. Below is the screen shot from the stream.

And at 12:00PM exactly the White House's website got a facelift. I am super happy with the new look, being a website designer I am all into the whole "web 2.0" look and feel. I really hope that this is the first of many of the government's sites to get updated. Here is a before and shot of what whitehouse.gov looked like after the jump:

You hear about and you probably even read them even if you don't know it. It's a blog! So you want to start blogging but you don't know how?

There are several blogging platforms out there that you can use, I use WordPress so that is what I will be getting into more than others:

WordPress.org (software only)
WordPress.com (hosted)
Blogger
Tumblr
TypePad
LiveJournal

All of the sites you can sign up and start blogging, most are free. Let's talk about WordPress though. It is what this site runs on and it is highly customizable.

WordPress.org vs. WordPress.com
With WordPress.com the hosting and managing of the software is taken care of by the team here at Automattic. With WordPress.org you need to install the software on your own server or with a 3rd party provider.
More details can be found here.

What about the design of the blog?
They are called themes in WordPress and you can find them by doing a simple search on Google. I added some helpful links below

Places to find WordPress Themes:
WordPress Official Site
Omni Theme
One Theme
ThemeForest
Woo Themes
Elegant Themes

Need Hosting? Try Springs Hosting, they host my sites and the support is excellent.
